Sponsoring agency SD Biosensor Healthcare Pvt ltd

Principal Investigator Dr K L Ravi Kumar, Principal Investigator, Central Research Laboratory, KIMS

Year in which started Nov-2020

Duration in months 2 months

Research Objectives

To Assess diagnostic accuracy of STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag test compared to standard comparator RT-PCR test of nasal swab specimens for detection of SARS-CoV-2

Research outcomes

The sensitivity and specificity of STANDARD Q COVID-19 Ag Test compared to the RT-PCR test for nasal swab was calculated

TITLE:Clinical Evaluation of BiolineTM Dengue Duo 2.0 (NS1 Ag and IgG/IgM)

Sponsoring agency Abbott Diagnostics, Korea

Project leader Dr. K L Ravi Kumar, Chief- Central Research Laboratory

Year in which started 2021

Duration in months 6 months

Research Objectives

To evaluate the clinical performance of the Dengue Duo 2.0 compared to SD BIOLINE Dengue Duo with the reference standard in terms of sensitivity and specificity. The reference standards methods are Panbio Dengue Early ELISA for NS1 Ag test and Panbio Dengue IgG/IgM ELISA for IgG/IgM test.

Research outcomes

The study is performed to evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of the kit to use it as Point of care test for detection of infection. The Dengue Duo 2.0 rapid test is an in-vitro immuno-chromatographic, one step assay designed to detect both dengue virus NS1 antigen and differentially IgG/IgM antibodies to dengue virus in human serum, plasma or whole blood.

TITLE:: Pneumococcal Disease Surveillance In All Age Groups Across Pan India

Sponsoring agency Pfizer

Project leader Dr K L Ravi Kumar, Principal Investigator, Central Research Laboratory, KIMS

Year in which started June - 2021

Duration in months 3.5 Years

Research Objectives

To recognize the characteristics of Invasive and Noninvasive S. pneumoniae isolates in Indian population To identify and characterize clinical syndromes associated with pneumococcal disease and associated co-morbidities. To Identify Streptococcus pneumoniae serotype distribution and antibiotic susceptibility patterns in Indian population

Research outcomes

The project enables in building homogeneity of surveillance across India by standardization of laboratory methods for diagnosis & characterization of S. pneumoniae.

Establishment of pan India referral system for S. pneumoniae supports large scale introduction of Pneumococcal vaccines and prioritization of policy. The study result will help alert clinicians on the trends and preventive measures.
